Tornado Watch/Warning
In the event a tornado watch/warning is in effect in Kalamazoo County at 5:30 p.m. or later on game day, all play is automatically cancelled for the evening.
Other Weather Conditions:
If 6:00 games are delayed or cancelled, 7:30 games will NOT automatically be cancelled!
If games get delayed in the first half because of weather, we will do a “wait it out” time at the pavilion, and resume play if weather looks like it may clear and if time permits. If a game is not resumed and if a half a game is not played games will be rescheduled. If games are are called during the 2nd half their will be no wait it out time, and NO rescheduling of games.
Please check in at the pavilion for any final decisions on weather related issues.

All games cancelled due to weather will be played at a date TBD, same time and field, unless notified otherwise. If a game is CANCELLED at half time or later there will NOT be a make-up game.
Team Information
Each season (Spring and Summer) has a team fee. Fee is TBD each year. To register a team please fill out our Team Registration Form. Have all team members fill out an individual waiver*, (A player may only play for and be on the roster of ONE team.) and send your teams $100 deposit to: SMWSA Irma, 4366 Stony Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49004. Please have your entire team fee paid by the 2nd game.

Individual Information
If you are an individual looking for a team please start by filling out a waiver by clicking on the link above, and send us a follow up email at: info@smwsa.net. We will either place you on a house team or find a team for your skill level and contact you as soon as possilbe.

SMWSA is an outdoor soccer league for Women 18 years or older. If you were 18 years or older on or before April 1st of this year you are eligible to play. Players age 17, that have graduated High School, by the same criteria will be allowed to play provided they obtain their parent’s signature on their waiver. You may be asked to show proof of age at the time of registration.
Players and spectators are to exhibit sportsman-like conduct at all times along with treating the referees on the field with respect. Players are also expected to promote a positive atmosphere. Referees are instructed to use both yellow and red cards in an effort to curb unsportsman-like conduct with players, coaches, and spectators ALL are subject to cards and may be asked to leave the fields. Team captains should also help to take responsibility for the actions/conduct of her teammates.
Offsides Ruling: States even is on
Slide Tackling: is prohibited in all divisions for safety and liability reasons
Starting Game Time: Officials are instructed to begin the game clock at the scheduled game time. In order to play the entire game your players should be on the field and ready to go at starting time. If you do not have 7 players on the field 10 minutes after your regularly scheduled game time a forfeit will be called.
Games will be played in two 35 minute halves, time permitting and when daylight allows. Length of game halves will be listed on the scorecard for the referee.
Substitution: Unlimited substitutions are allowed on any throw-in goal kick, goal, or on a team’s own corner kick or throw-in only if the team with the corner kick or throw-in subs, then the opposing team can sub as well. Substitute players must receive referee acknowledgment and sub in from the center line.
Red Cards: The board reserves the right to suspend a player that received a red card as they see fit. At minimum a red card will warrant a one game suspension, at most a player could be suspended from the league indefinitely.
Things that will be taken into consideration by the board when looking at red card suspensions: past conduct,
past yellow card(s)/reasons, past red card(s)/reasons
Scorecards & Rosters
Team Roster: A team roster is populated for your team when individual waivers are filled out.
Team Scorecards: Will now be populated for teams as players fill out individual waivers. A board member will print scorecards and give to referees before each game is played. Please make sure everyone on your team has filled out a waiver by 3pm on gameday. If a waiver is not filled out by 3pm on game day a player or team captain must see a board member before the player plays. If a player does not have a waiver filled out and is NOT listed on the scorecard this is ground for forfeit.
A player is to only be listed on 1 (ONE) team roster/scorecard. If your team has someone sub that already plays on another team your game will be considered a forfeit.
***If there are questions on the age of an opponent or the identification of a player (vs. the scorecard), the refs will make note on the scorecard. Player age and status will be followed up with by a board member. A team having any illegal players will be subject to forfeit.
A League Meeting is always held in the Spring Season. If you have a proposal for the league meeting please email your proposal to info@smwsa.net at least a week before the league meeting.
